I know we need to stay out of the sun as much as possible while on doxy.
I was outside yesterday working (we own a farm) for a couple of hours. I had on long pants, long shirt, very wide brimmed hat that covered neck/face/head, and SPF 50 sunscreen.
I even had gloves on as I was working with shovels and rakes. Later on that day every time I washed my hands my fingers and hands started tingling/burning.
I am sure even with these precautions it is still due to the sun. My question is...does it ever go away? Anyone have any experience with this?
I plan on calling my doctor to ask about this, but has anyone had any experience with another alternative to doxy so I don't have to spend all summer in the house?
Thank you all!

This is definitely from the doxy. I experienced it.
If you get more sun on the hands, you will then not be able to stand cold or hot water on your hands. You will have to use only lukewarm water.
And, if you get more sun on them, then you will have the burning continually.
It DOES go away. But it takes at least 2 weeks to a month. And, if you keep getting sun, it will just keep happening.
Once I got the doxy burn on my hands, I couldn't even stand to sit under our skylight in the kitchen. It would set off the burning/tingling.
I couldn't even run out to the mailbox and back without suffering this. Just those few seconds of sun were unbearable.
So, yes, it is time to drop the doxy and go to something that does not react to the sun for the summer.
Until this episode resolves, be sure to wear gloves while driving (light cotton ones) so that you are not adding to the sun exposure.
I would try drinking lots and lots of water also to flush out the doxy as fast as possible.
The hands are the hardest hit with the doxy burn. I hate to think what it would be like on other parts of the body.

Okay, I am happy to see that this will go away. I see the dr. next week and will bring this up with him.
I just started a couple of weeks ago, so wasn't sure how long I would be on it before switching. But I need something else for the summer!
