I’ve been on malarone for babs for two months now and have not seen any improvement—only getting worse headache and stiff neck and worse fatigue.
I saw my LLMD last week and she is thinking that bartonella is really my problem, but told me to continue the malarone. I’ve tested positive for both from DNA Connexions in the spring.
Since seeing her last week, I’ve gotten worse and am wondering if knocking down the babs has ALLOWED the bart to come out stronger?
She had suggested last week cats claw and samento to add in, but at that point I thought I'd just stay with the malarone.
I know you can have babs and never have symptoms if you have a spleen but then I guess the spleen should takecare of it and I wouldn’t have tested positive for it?
Or maybe DNA Connexions is not accurate.
Wondering if malarone could be causing increase of symptoms.

I didn't get as much relief from Malarone as I did from Mepron. What else are you on?
My doctor treated the bartonella while on Malarone. The two infections can be treated simultaneously, but it's pretty rough.
If your doctor wanted you to add cat's claw (Samento is cat's claw), maybe that's a starting place for you.
For me, the babesia went away once the Lyme was gone. Almost 2 years on Mepron and if I got off the infection would flare immediately. It's wasn't so much related to my spleen as it was being held in my body because the borrelia was there. I literally just used tonic water for symptoms once the borrelia was gone.

I discovered some a-Bart in my cupboard from 2 years ago and have started that very slowly--just half a drop a day. But will tell llmd in case she thinks the samento is better. There was another one she mentioned.
Didn't sleep last night even with zolpidem. That reminds me of when I was on rifampin years ago. A- Bart was tough on me too two years ago.
But as you said Six--maybe the lyme needs to be knocked down first. Thanks.
