I am currently taking modified citrus pectin for a recent acute toxic mold exposure that makes me ill.
I feel my symptoms are worsened after taking it and then become better later, just like herx from antibiotics.
I don't understand this. I thought these binders are not absorbed by the body and they bind to toxin in the bile and move them into stool. I should just feel better without feelings a temporary worsening efffect.

As the binder cleans the toxins from the bile, the body can then remove more. So toxins that have been in storage in various places get pulled from the tissues and into the bloodstream as the bile and liver unloads them to binders.
The toxins getting stirred up and moving around the body causes the symptoms. Very important to keep the bowels moving like lymetoo mentioned.
Adding other binders at other times might help. Chlorella is like a food, can take it any time and it leaves the good stuff alone. If you supplement vitamin C be sure to take it 3 hours away from chlorella as it will break it's bonds to mercury that it picks up.
I find coffee enemas incredibly helpful to the detox process. They help bile flow and make lots of glutathione. You can time taking your binders 30 minutes before doing one, then when the coffee enema stimulates the bile flow the binder is in the proper place to clean the bile before it is recycled. Regular CE's have been a major factor in positive increases in function and healing for me.
