I was on Bactrim DS and Artemisinin complex for 10 days. ON Tuesday I started another herb Myrrh Forte and in the mid night I felt itching around my neck but did not pay attention or realize it is rash.
Wednesday morning On empty stomach I took Artemisinin Complex along with Myrrh Forte and by afternoon I notice itching and rash on my stomach and the back side of the neck.
went to urgent care last night and I was told it is a allergic reaction to a herb and prescribed steroid prednisone and Zantac. I have started Zantac and hesitant to start steroid.
doc said not to use anything topical it will get worse. still rash exists and very itchy..
Any of you encountered this type of reaction to meds or herbs. if so what did u use to low down the pain and itching.
Could you please provide your inputs and suggestions on this.

Did you stop the herb? It sounds like it might be the myrrh forte since it started after you started that one.
I'd be hesitant to start the steroid, too. I've always used Benadryl for allergies. When I've gone to the hospital for food allergies, they've given me Benadryl and Pepcid together because they work on two different kinds of histamine.

I find tea tree oil helps the itching a bit, but not necessarily the rash. Just be careful of what's in it. You do absorb into your skin. Plus you don't want to irritate it more than it is.

Nettle tea is a possible help. You can do a test patch on your skin first to see how you go. It can be used internally or externally for itchy rashes.

You can buy Domeboro packets over the counter. They work very well.
You dissolve the powder in water and then wet gauze with the solution and put it on the rash.
I learned about this from a doctor. It has helped the itching and irritation from various causes. I have used it for years for good relief.

I have never heard of Domeboro so I looked it up because I love learning about things that help. It's first ingredient is aluminum sulfate, hmmm...
