I am a Lymie in remission but I just scratched what may be a poppy size tick from behind my ear. All week I’ve complained of chills off and on, louder than usual and now constant ringing in my ears, pressure in my head and a slight headache. I thought it might be the flu but it was so odd that my gut said no.

I started on 100 mg doxy I had on hand but have no idea what to do from here besides doxy in am/pm.

Any thoughts and help would be appreciated. I’m almost unable to function as work as a hairdresser because the ringing in the ears is so loud and feeling bad overall it so I could barely concentrate. I’m making booking mistakes again and having word recall problems.

Please help! Am I stuck for life at this level??!!

Get some meds ASAP and take full dosage .. That's 200mg twice a day.

Don't forget to take with plenty of food and do not lie down for at least an hour after taking the doxy.

[group hug] I hope you can get past this very soon!!!!

Thank you Lymetutu... you’re a lifesaver! I had some doxycycline on hand, I’ve been taking 400 mg daily as suggested. It has helped IMMENSELY. The ringing in my ears is still distracting but it is reduced. My energy has come back, yesterday I had some fatigue, probably a Herxheimer reaction. I’m alternating with strong probiotics that include an enzyme so hopefully I’m keeping my gut as healthy as possible. I have enough antibiotics to carry me through five more weeks which would be a total of nearly 6 weeks. How long do you recommend I continue? Many thanks!.

If you go to www.ilads.org there is a treatment guideline there. I believe it says 4 weeks past the last symptom for a new bite, but you might double check.

I'm glad you had it on hand so you could nip this in the bud when it started!!

Six weeks sounds like something I would prefer! Hope you will be just fine after that!

5000 mg of Astragalus per day for 4 to 6 weeks will also help.
