does lyme make you more susceptible to ear and sinus infections?

no wonder I had such a massive headache and really bad tinnitus. under my eyes were all red and blue veiney looking. no fever tho. stabbing ear pain which caused head jerks.

so off to dr. bad ear and sinus infection. I let it go thinking oh jus lyme. wasn't.

now I wonder if I should have the combo endoscopy/colonoscopy on monday. i'll call them later and ask. I'm still having trouble swallowing.

it's hard figuring out if it's herx, lyme, or something else.

called the gastros office. they won't do any procedure with me on antibiotics and especially with cough and chest congestion.

I have to call and reschedule for may.

I've had a sinus problem for a long time but the symptoms post lyme changed to include always a bit of blood and yellowish scabs in my nose. I also had an ear problem in one ear start a few years after I got lyme, seemingly caused by using ear plugs with baffles.

I've had tinnitus in the one ear effected since. My head has also always heating up and I had some swelling around my ear, this on a daily or probably continual basis.

I've been to a couple of ENTs and they were of no help. More recently I got a recommendation from another doctor and I went to the new ENT he recommended.

The new guy removed stuff from my ear and said that what he saw was skin. He prescribed Mupirocin to be put in my nose twice a day. I asked him if I could also put it in my ear and he said yes and that I should put it in both ears if I do.

Mupirocin is for treating impetigo. I do not have a skin condition anywhere else. The doctor didn't have any idea of what was causing the problem and I assume lyme and/or antibiotics related.

I'm now starting my fourth day of using the ointment. I was to use it twice a day for 2-6 weeks but I looked at instructions online instead of his instructions which and online was okay for more usage. I've been using it 3x a day but maybe I'll go to twice.

There is no question that I have had significant improvement. Whether it will be lasting or not, I do not know yet but will post later on about that.

Best of luck to us both and hope this helps.
