Hi,

I’m kind of new to all if this. I was diagnosed with lupus and secondary fibromyalgia. I’m on plaquenil ever since but have not seen much improvement. There are good days and bad days but it’s hard for me to live a normal life. had to quit my job about a year ago when my symptoms started suddenly.

Right after getting lupus diagnosis, I got tested for lyme by MDLabatories? and it came back positive. Igm positive but Igg negative. This test was done by my Naturopath and none of my medical doctors thought that I had lyme disease (said it was a false positive).

I’ve never seen a tick in my life if I had a exposure it should be at least 10 years ago. I’m 30 yo and my possible exposure to lyme is at least 15 years ago (camping in woods). Also I live in Vancouver BC where lyme is not well known.

I continued with my lupus and fibro treatment for about 8 months - I improved a little - being painfully bedridden to having some good days with few hours of activity.

So I met with my naturopath again to try antibiotics - doxycyclin 100mg two times a day plus plaquenil which I was already taking. Starting antibiotics took me by a surprise. Few hours after first dose my nerve pain intensified so much.

My feet were burning, buzzing and tingling. It subsided within few hours but did not disappear completely.

I thouht it was herx reaction at first but this happens every time I take a pill. On the second day, my old symptoms that were long gone came back. Mostly nerve pains, tingling, pins& needles and itching. I called my ND and he told me to stop and restart 100mg a day after 3 days..

I’m scared to take the next pill. I’ve read a lot about herx reaction and it seems like they are usually delayed reaction (48 hrs after new treatment). Mine is couple hours after taking doxycycline and happens everytime..

If it’s a herx reaction I should suck it up and endure the pain (it’s the worst pain..) but I’m worried that it might be my lupus acting up.

Did anyone herx within few hours of first dose??
Does anyone have similar experience as me?

Any thoughts will be helpful.

Thank you in advance.

This is very good reaction a herx reaction, i heard doxy is very good for lyme if You pulse it.

Drug must first absord and reach certain level in plasma, to affect bacteria.

The fact that You have this reaction means You have a chance elliminating disease.

Doxy is praised at http://als-cure.com

It looks like a herx to me too, but who knows...

I would not swallow and accept, as many people get these reactions, new symptoms arise from herxes, but some takes years to disappear, if ever.

It's just in the books that a herx is a temporary worsening of symptoms that go out fast.

In my own experience, without a thorough detox protocol, herxes worsening come to stay and damage.

They are extremely oxidative in action, that is why they damage cells, tissue and nerves.

If you react too badly after doxy or antimicrobials, you're missing binders, and liver / lymph / kidney support.

Not a good idea to push to extremes in my opinion.

Some people think herxes are good. Yeah, in THEORY it looks like herxes = medicine is working.

I made thread about herxes causing death in the medical literature, not long ago.

I reacted with herxes sometimes minutes after taking a cocktail of herbs, such as Buhner's herbs.

This is informative, I think, called Doctor Induced Horror (= herxes)
