I have suffered for about 4 years now, and have been on antibiotics for lyme for about 3 or so.

I have been doing okay, but I am a very sensitive patient. I was doing okay until the last week or so, when I have had extreme nausea, fevers, and just feeling really out of it.

Today I legitimately felt scared for my life. I was driving home and felt like everything was in slow motion, like I wasn't in control of my body. Numb almost. It is like loss of feeling, and I know I am putting my foot down on the break, but I don't really feel it. It was so scary, and I really thought I was going to die. When I touch an arm or leg it doesn't feel like I am present, I don't feel it, and I can't catch my breathe.

My doctor has given something for the nausea, but I am just so scared. Is this normal with herxing?

The first 1 - 3 months of my treatment was absolutely AWLFUL.

I remember calling my neighbor to come over and babysit me because I thought I was dying. One becomes so sick from from the die-off that you lose your mind, your perspective and your personality.

It does get better although at a snails pace. Patience is the key. Remain calm, it will pass. Time is required, there is no majic bullet to take.

You can back-off your meds for a few days till things calm down. Up your detox, Epsom salt baths, magnesium, lemon water, milk thistle, Glutathone.

It's just me, but if I were in your shoes, I would review the whole treatment (with or without my doctor)...

Feeling like that does not seem right, no matter what people say about herxes.

Herxes can be a bit bad, I agree, hard to avoid sometimes, with ups and down.

But feeling like you're dying looks like you crossed the line.

I already posted many times that herxes can kill, and it is well known in medicine.

This is just one paper, I already posted:
Herxes can kill paper

Another paper trying to understand how herxes kill

The herx that was the most scary for me was similar to yours: I stopped feeling I could move my body, slowly everything got so heavy, slow mo, even breathing seemed to stop, then it happened -

.... I lost control of muscles, no more movements, and awful sensation of air hunger, gasping for air.

That was THE moment I decided I can't play with herxes anymore, but must look at them with respect.

Just back off anti-microbials - that is what I would do.

And increase organ support (each organ needs at least 2 supportive substances: liver, kidney + lymph, gut), PLUS binders in rotation MANY times a day.

Herxes are extreme oxidant.

Herxes do nothing good to your organs, to your cells, to your immune system, to your nerves, brain, digestion, detox systems, to any system of your body.

A doctor that does not TREAT herxes is dangerous.

People here usually say 'follow your doctor, don't do anything on your own'.

Knowing that medical error is the 3rd cause of death in the USA, I would say that this advice is also dangerous.

I would trust my gut, brain and statistics, not my doctor 100%. I see doctors as mere helpers.

Hope you find a solution soon!

You may need to alter the dose or switch the kind of magnesium you take (I do hope your doctor suggested magnesium as it's the number one support that helps so very much in many ways).

LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too.

Sadly, since getting a proper assessment and diagnosis is such a challenge, there may be a bit of a false rainbow in thinking that once on treatment, all will be better. But lyme and TBD (tick borne disease) just don't work that way. It can take a very long to feel better even with the best treatment and proper support.

You may feel like you are losing the battle, and that's understandable to feel that way physically. Just know that it is possible to get better. Yet, still be kind with yourself because neither the diagnosis nor a treatment plan can just negate the fact that you are sill very ill.

With so many "typical" doctors ignoring this and family and fiends often clueless, often patients tend to think they need to just get on with it once they are on a treatment plan. It's just not so simple, sorry.

But, if support is not "proper" treatment can be so much worse. No one should fell totally terrible with treatment, though. It needs to be tolerable. Top requirement.

And treatment must be individualized for each person, with frequent adjustments along the way. Liver support should help to tolerate treatment.

You may need some changes in the treatment / plan, though. Not everyone can "do" certain Rx or even herbs.

Breathing and excessive sweating sound like babesia. I'm hoping you've been assessed for that.

Also be sure to not get overheated at all. Cooling packs are vital to have around.

Hot baths, never, no matter the time of year. Yet, also avoid even warm baths in summer. Stick with short just warm enough showers and a cool-ish end but never shock with cold water, either.

Many with lyme are very sensitive to heat. Even just one or two degrees over comfort can create a serious situation.

GINGER Capsules are very helpful for nausea. Much safer than most Rx, too. And Ginger also helps relieve pain.

Enteric coated PEPPERMINT gel caps, too on both counts. And peppermint also has a favorable influence against biofilm so helps with any treatment plan.

Be sure they are truly ENTERIC COATED, though and sturdy enough not to be released too soon in the upper GI tract. The oils in mint can be very strong and burn if not in a sturdy coating / gel cap.

I was on heavy antibiotics for 3-4 years and I believe the drugs, with a couple of exceptions, were worse than the disease. I also frequently wondered whether I was dying.

I didn't start getting better until I got off the drugs. I felt better soon after getting off them and I've have been successfully using Buhner protocols to get well.

3 months is a very short time to be treating. Sounds to me like you're treating too strongly and perhaps need to back down in dosage.

Are you doing any detoxing?

Have you had a full blood workup, including for thyroid levels? I tested low thyroid and went on Armour thyroid and then depersonalization ended and I felt present.

I also take capsules of turmeric everyday - it successfully takes down inflammational pain in muscles and joints. I get it in bulk at the healthfood store and dip empty 00-size capsules into it.
