I searched a bit for older posts - please point me to one, if I missed one - still have the following questions:
Do you take Mg when not on abx? I think Dr. B said no.
What is the best way to take Mg and B12?
Are the oral B12 (through the stomach) supplements worthless? Why?
I am making another herculean effort to pull myself together and do everything right (ha ha) and get better this time.
Still struggling.

Dr Carolyn Dean has a great product called ReMag for the magnesium. It's pretty awesome.
I take B12 shots. My doctor prescribes it for me.

The best way to take magnesium is 4 hours before or after taking antibiotics. Doxy, azith, Cipro all interact negatively with magnesium, causes poor absorption.
Also check your supplements. Many contain magnesium such as ATP fuel mitochondria support.
My insurance won't cover my vitamin B injections so I buy Stresstabs Energy at Walmart. Contains lots of B's.

I take sublingual B12 supplements every morning. I've been taking it for awhile. I know for a fact it works good because my recent blood work shows that my B12 is >2000. Normal range stops at around 1200.
Dr says im fine and can continue to take it.
Nature Made 3000mcg.

Methyl B12 SL once a week, 1,000 mcg. tab, held in the upper gum as long as possible. Aim for 2 hrs. My B12 is now 1600. Enzymatic Therapy B12 Infusion.
Most of us have MTHFR gene mutations, so METHYL B12 is needed, not cobalamin.
Mg is needed for over 300 actions in the body. I have valvular heart damage and Fibromyalgia secondary to Lyme, both of which Mg is very helpful for, not to mention IBS w/constipation, for which it is absolutely needed in my case anyway.
I take it as a hot drink (Natural Calm) away from all other drugs and foods.

They both have fructose, mannitol, magnesium stearate, etc.
Yes, I have tested for the MTHFR gene mutation, too.
you guys are the best!!!

Harmony, I take the B12 in the first link you provided, but get it from vitacost, not Amazon.
I take this by itself.
I have one of each MTHFR mutations and do not take the Methyl folate anymore, since it made my folic acid levels go sky high and they were already well above normal....it is till not converting to folate.

so the B12 is not Methyl folate, that is something else, right?
also, how did you test your folic acid levels?

Does anyone know if magnesium interferes with the absorption of supplements? I have always tried to space them a part but it would be so much easier if I didn't have to do this.

Magnesium definitely interferes with calcium and zinc and vice-versa.

I like magnesium spray. It totally bypasses the digestive tract.

Epsom salts bath is a great way to replenish magnesium and lower imflamation in the body. Because it's absorbed through the skin, it doesn't interfere with meds. You can take an Epsom salts bath anytime.

I did order the B12 and some Trace Minerals Ultra Mangosteen Juice from Vitacost - yeah, klutzo! I like them, too
and got the ReMag
I am making a re-newed effort to get rid of remaining symptoms and have a feeling that Dr B is right, for my case also, in that I am now, after so many years of chronic Lyme, missing some nutrients to the point that I need to supplement to get better
thanks for all your help! you guys are the best!
any other important supplements and proven, favorite sources? feel free to chime in with those as well - I am all ears!

Wow! - did Epsom salt in very hot water for my left foot before bedtime
70% improvement (temporary) overnight - I could step on my foot/leg the next morning to get to the bathroom - a first in over 6 months!
it scared me that my Achilles tendon may be so Mag deprived that it hurts so much I can't use my foot
with Lyme it is so hard to know what pains to ignore and what pain is really important to pay attention to
getting no help from docs and pain rotating so much, I've come to ignore it
but this may rip my tendon if I don't add Mag - and I thought it would just go away as so many other crippling pains
sigh!

the ReMag is awesome and I am just letting a B12 Enzymatic Therapy 1,000 mcg dissolve under my tongue
off to make a smoothie soon
Thank you all so much for the tips on the Mg and the B12!!!
The ReMag is awesome because I can just pour a tiny bit into each bottle of water I sip during the day and it seems to help already
makes the water taste smooth, like milk
my tendon in my left foot is better and that means a lot
I was unable to use the foot at least 30% of the day (after getting up and after any rest) and I was worried I may rip the tendon
do you know how long it takes to repair damage like that?
I will be more mindful of my Mg now!
