Hi everyone,

First time ever posting on a forum, but I haven't found an answer to my question, so here it goes.

Three years ago, I hadn't left my home in 18 months and had a long list of symptoms. All treatments to date had not brought any improvement, rather only a continuous steady decline. Overall functioning was approx. 5-10% of norm with primarily physical symptoms. Diagnosis was originally CFS, POTS, and finally, Lyme & Co., which was triggered by a mold exposure (all confirmed via positive lab testing). Once mold and Lyme were diagnosed, my health began to slowly turn around.

After three years of full time treatment (IVs, saunas, colonics, supplements, dental work, mold avoidance, meditation, tapping, etc.) I'm now at 60-65% functioning. Much better, but I still have a ways to go.

My question:

My WBC have always been in the low normal range (5.0-6.0 with a range of 4.0-11.0) even before becoming unwell (although I likely had Lyme & Co already).

What I've noticed over the last three years and 5 CBCs is that my WBC (and Neutrophils) are both trending downward to the point of being right at the bottom of the normal range (4.0 and 2.1 respectively). My doctors are aware but not concerned, but ironically, while I am doing much better, my lab results were best when I was at my worst.

I have heard of antibiotics lowering WBCs (by convincing the body that it doesn't need to produce more WBC) but can a long term aggressive herbal only treatment do the same (I haven't taken antibiotics)? I haven't found anything online to support or refute this thought but it kind of makes sense to me. Maybe it's time for a herbal holiday:)

Thanks for any insights,

Cohen

As you say your are "doing much better" (even if only at about 65% of "functioning" . . .

and that your WBC are at the bottom of normal range.

That makes sense to me and I also see it as nothing to be concerned about as long as you are taking excellent care of yourself in all manners.

Your body seems not to be a state of alarm with the WBC "army" . . . and that's a good thing.

If the herbal supplements are successful and doing what they are intended, it also makes sense that your WBC army would be calmer.

It does not mean your approach or your body are not on the right path. Though, also to consider is damage done and that likely there is still more time to go address the various parts of all this.

IMO, you do not want your WBC to stage an attack at this point. Slow, steady, continuous strengthening of your body is best.

Nutrition is of utmost help to immune system, be sure your blood glucose is not rising and diving often . . . get good sleep if possible, and gentle yet consistent movement that you enjoy.

The WBC (cells / count) will also vary from time to time, even day to day and may have been calmer the day of the blood draw yet, anytime in between testing, they still seem to have the capacity to be more assertive but, really, you do not want them all riled up all the time.
