My story: I got a positive Western Blot done. Then I thought I'd go see a rheumatologist for some abx.
He had me order an ELISA test. I knew nothing at the time about this testing issue. It came back negative and he announced, "Good news - the ELISA test is negative - you don't have Lyme."
Well, I had put myself on clindamycin abx left over in my drawer - I'm basically allergic to most abx so I had some left over from some other incident. I was now out of pain for the first time in 25 years and I was herxing!
So I let him have it! He walked out, then I walked out and discussed my newfound awareness of Lyme disease with the staff, who couldn't walk out!
You gotta know the politics. The ELISA test is a very weak test and misses at least half the cases. Doctors use it to keep from having to treat people who have Lyme. Yes, this is criminal.
