I would like to thank the Monmouth County Health Services. They sent me a letter this week informing me that they were recently notified by a local dr. that I have contracted Lyme Disease.
I tested positive by CDC standards on Sept 10th 2008.
They also informed me that luckily I could treat this with 3-4 weeks of antibiotics.
They filled me with useful information like what kind of symptoms I should expect like the 60-80% of people that develop the typical EM rash and how to avoid tick bites since they are the only vector for this disease.
Thank You!

Nice. Why don't you see if the president of that health plan would like to have some of your blood in a transfusion and take his/her 3 weeks of Doxycycline.

I would respond back with your own information in a somewhat condescending yet enlightening mode, and suggest that they distribute your literature instead, as it would eventually save the insurance companies and ourselves thousands.
Ah...the nerve. But ignorance needs to be corrected, whether accepted or not.
Atleast they feel the need to cover up now.....that means their getting scared, and lyme is not a wedge that you put in a drink.

Tested Positive for CDC critiria and only 3 weeks of anitibotics...???
That sounds like another brainwashed organization which simply follows the very basic guidelines rather than helping the actual individual to regain their true health.
Please be careful.

Very frustrating.
Why did they even bother sending anything since your 3 weeks would have been up months ago and you would supposedly be symptom free by now??

I LOVE seekhelp's idea! Genius!
I think the doctor's that take me seriously are the ones that think, "if I had that blood in me, I would def. want more than 3 weeks of abx......."

I also feel so frustrated that they would have the nerve to send this to me especially now! God forbid I had actually just taken the original doc's advice and took my 3 weeks of doxy and figured...well I am cured!
Instead I pushed and pushed for more meds until I could see and LLMD.
Monmouth County NJ is a hotbed for ticks and Lyme. My brother plays golf on all the courses in NJ and he said the Monmouth County courses in particular post signs that say....
If you go into the woods to find your ball, be certain to check for ticks. If you go into the woods you will get Lyme disease.
If the golf course knows this, can't the local government get a clue?

Good point Terry! This is one of the things that bothers me most - that Lyme disease bacteria needs to be treated after the initial infection - but if you don't get treated - oh well! Then it no longer exists! Like magic! No treatment. auuuugh! -p
