I worked in the printing industry for several years, with my hands on chemical materials and photo processing materials. I believe the worst offenders would be silver and maybe some cobalt or cadmium from the printing inks.
How does someone test for this? Would this be holding up my Lyme recovery, for I seem to be in a holding pattern.
Thanks!

Really cadmium is the only one of those three you have to worry much about. Cobalt I believe is actually used by the human body in trace amounts. But cadmium is very toxic. You can do hair testing or urine challenge testing which is where you take a chelator then collect your urine for a set number of hours following the dose. I know doctors data offers both tests.
Apparantly it does hold up lyme recovery. I had mercury poisoning and had a violent reaction when i had my fillings removed due to mercury leaking into my system in a massive amount at that point. Since removing them and doing chelation I notice a very slow but gradual improvement. My doctor and Brian Rosner along with other llmds seem to agree that mercury can keep lyme bacteria safe from antibiotics and our immune system.

That makes a lot of sense. I am glad to hear about your improvement since having your fillings removed.
Do you mind me asking what method of chelation you are using?

check out Doctor's Data Lab in Chicago.
Testing can not show the whole picture but it can give some important hints. I did a DMSA challenge test with them. One DMSA pill (no harsh effects for me at all) and 24 hour urine collection, shake and take a sample and ship back to them.

I was tested for heavy metals by Doctor's Data. I don't remember which ones specifically, but I agree with Keebler.
It would be a good place to start.

It is worth checking out, but best to do this with a doctor's care (testing and chelation treatment, if you find high levels). There are a few llmd's that include metal testing in their examination. Will send you a pm.

hey mazou when I said I was doing better I mean just a little better, cause it's sloooow. Don't want you to get impatient when you start with it, cause I know I am. For chelation I use a product called chelex from xymogen because it had DMSA in it along with alpha liphoic acid and it comes out to be a better deal that buying the two products seperately, plus it has a few other chemicals in there to help too. When I take it I do frequent dosing every four hours. I also use chlorella and pectasol, both of which are important. Pectasol shouldn't cause anyone side effects too and it doesn't pull out good minerals. Then I eat high protein diet with garlic and eggs for extra sulfur. Then I sit.. and wait and curse mercury and the coal and dental industries.

Pyorka, thanks. Chelex. I think I have heard of it. Thanks for the heads up. I like progress of any kind, even slow! What's up with the coal? That affected you?
Keebler and Leelee, I'll check out the lab. And thanks Vermont for the info.

pryoka,
I use a few products made by Xymogen. I haven't begun working on my heavy metals yet because my LLMD says he wants to hold off on that until the TBD treatment are further along.
I like the products I use by them and am glad to see that when I am ready they make something else I can use.

It is interesting to see all the different tests they do.

mazou,
I just thought to check my lab work from Doctor's Data to see what I was actually tested for.
Interestingly enough, I was tested for Cadmium (one of your concerns). I am close to the 95th percentile range which I think means I may have a slight toxicity. I am definitely in the high range for mercury and arsenic.
I was not tested for silver or cobalt.
