He is very compassionate. He has great manner with children. He has toys and videos in his office. He is very gentle. Your son will not need to or be asked to sit still.
He does some physical evaluations that involve walking, hoping, following with sight, etc.
I don't know if there is a sliding scale.
Even if you are under the care of another, good to have Dr J- he can consult with your other doc.
You are in the best hands. It was the BEST $800 i ever spent. Knowing what a difference has been made in my child's life, I would mortgage my house and hock my wedding ring to go.
My daughter was infected (or reinfected post birth?) at 2.5 treated from 4 to 6 and is BETTER, GREAT, WONDERFUL!!!!

My son had his first appt with Dr J on Aug 10.
He had his second one with him two days ago.
I paid the full price (with a credit card...worry later), didn't ask about a reduction so I don't know about that.
My son is 11 yrs old. A bit different from 3. He treated him more like a little adult, that sort of thing.
He's very compassionate. He seems very busy to me, like his head and life are full. I can relate, so I don't let it bother me. He doesn't smile a lot, no big deal.
But he gave us the entire 2 hours and my son had the best picc line dressing change he's ever had by one of his nurses. Staff are very friendly.
I like Dr. J. He seems very competent and that's the most important thing.
I'm still in the process of learning about all of this. I've had a rather sharp learning curve though. He answers all your questions. I need to be sure to write them all down though!
Because the cure for Lyme isn't quite set in stone one of the most important things to me about a Dr is their flexibility and humility. I think Dr J has this, but I'm still feeling it out.
I haven't asked him his thoughts on the Marshall Protocol for instance. The MP isn't recommended for acute disease though - it's for chronic.
Since my son is on the edge of both, I'm not sure how to even frame some of my questions.
I'm rambling at this point but feel free to PM me.
