I have read alot of Babesia posts and it seems that most patients are not cured with the typical Mepron/Zith or Malarone treatments.

I have done herbals (Art, Cryptoplus) and have made no progress. I still test energetically high for Babs and was low positive (1:20) on Igenex for Babs Ducani.

LLMD wants Mepron/Zith because that what my body is tests well for.

It seems like everyone here does endless rounds (more than 6 months) without progress.

Anyone go from highly positive to completely negative on blood tests.

Main symptoms left for me are:

Heart Arrhythmia
Digestive issues and nausea
Low Ferritin
Occasional mild night sweats
Panic attacks (rare now)
Mild post exercise fatigue

I did have pinpoint red raised bumps in the center of my chest and around my liver/lower bowel area when I first got sick. Also red dots on my palms (itchy). This could have been my RMSF OR Babesia. Hard to tell.

6 months of Doxy did not cure my RMSF either.

Any input welcome.

I got rid of babesia microti. It is nearly 5 years since I completed my lyme, babs, and bart treatment.

I couldn't take zith, so my doc used Bactim DS to cure me of babs. I took this for almost a year. It did the trick for me.

I have 4 friends who also got rid of their babesia. They took zith and mepron. Doc follows the Burrascano protocol. Also tests mepron levels during treatment as recommended by Burrascano.

Used mixed herbals from Inno-Vita (Micro-site) for about 10 days. Have not been energetically tested since, but most symptoms are greatly reduced or gone.

Been about 2 months.

8 freakin years of babs treatment, every drug out there, and in combination, and can't get rid of it.

Mepron/zith is more effective than malerone, and add plaquenil and bactrim if you can handle it. I think that is the best combo on the market.

Good luck to you,
Mary

Got rid of my babs duncani after treating it for approximately 1 year. Did Mepron, zith, artimisinin for 6 months. Then Bactrim DS, Enula, and then CryptoPlus.

I got better and it took a year of aggressive treatment. I was fortunate to have DR. H in HP NY.

I had Dr. H in HP NY also, until we moved away. He tried with me for two years to get rid of it. Used all his tricks, and finally drew blood and sent it to IGENEX to research it. Never heard any feelback from IGENEX, and then we moved away.

I'm jealous of those of you who can get rid of it. :-)

Myco,

Enula might be worth a try. For me, it was very powerful.

I think Quinine/Clindamycin has helped some with my babesia. It's hard to know though, because my babs symptoms aren't constant, and it's not like I'm getting my blood tested before and after everything I try. Haven't had bloodwork for babs in awhile.

Lariam has helped some people with babesia. I have never tried that one.

I banished babesia WA-1 (now Duncani) with two rounds of several months each of the following:

Mepron - coupla scoops a day.
Zith
Artemisinin

I was positive by Sonoma County Health Dept. lab testing.

I did a couple months of Plaquenil earlier in treatment for lyme which may have helped to kill it. That was before I even knew I had it. Still, I tested positive for it after Plaquenil.

Did not retest to see if clear results after treatment, as headaches and figuring out where I live ceased and desisted. Not to mention 24/7 diarrhea. Oh, sorry, I wasn't going to mention that.

I'm sorry others are having so much trouble with it. I do feel Artemisinin is important and often overlooked. Adding it magnifies symptoms x10 but it does get better.

Hugs from an old-timer,

Michelle

Thanks everyone.

My main sx left seem to be heart irregularities caused by an irritated vagal nerve. I also have gut problems. Diarrhea and constipation, SIBO, bloating and gas, delayed emptying.

How many of you babs sufferers have heart rhythm problems that went away with treatment? Mine are SVT, PACS, PVCS.

Funny, I broke out an old bottle of Enula right before I came down with these terrible gut problems 2 weeks ago. Sudden diarrhea, gas with foods, near syncope after eating, intense bloating and nausea after food. Waking at dawn every morning with nausea and pain around belly. GI tests are normal so far. CT scan also normal. Wondering if is babs or SIBO and trying to figure that out.

Was on Cryptoplus for 4 months but no herx or other reaction to it other than the horrible taste. Enula on the other hand may be the culprit. So hard to tell with this disease.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Myco,

Sixgoofy treated parasites with Enula and had significant tapeworm die-off.

if your GI issues are caused by Enula it might not be such a bad thing if it's a die off of parasites.

You should ask her what her symptoms were like. I would imagine GI and bowel symptoms.

Maybe you have parasites - besides from the babs?

Have you ever done a parasite cleanse?

sparkle,

Which cryptolepsis are you on? The Woodland Essence?

Hopefully I haven't asked that already!

Myco,

We think my husband has knocked the Babesia out of the picture as he hasn't had any symptoms and he has been off babs meds for about 8 months now.

It took about a year of malarone combined with IV Flagyl, IV Zithromax, IV ertapenem, then IV clindamycin and qualaquin. There was some enula and cryptoleptis tinctures tossed in there also. IV was important for my husband's case but I'm sure those combos would probably work well with in oral form also.

Funny, I don't have headaches, fevers. Sometimes I have nightsweats. Mostly the heart stuff and digestive issues.

I started light salt/c a few days ago as a broad spectrum parasite cleanse.

Tried Cryptoplus, Enula. May go back to the Enula as I think it did make me herx.

About to start Doxy again for RMSF (6 month course did not do it). And then will start Mepron and Zith once I get up to 400mgs Doxy a day.
