can't afford the 10k+ to get them removed. So now I don't know what to worry about first. Treating the lyme or worrying that I am toxic. I can't deal.

My advice is not to bother with the amalgams. There are plenty of Lyme patients out there who are well and never removed them.
I removed all mine and it didn't help at all. Did all the detox too. There is more mercury in our environment than in your mouth. Deal with the Lyme and do it now!
My two cents.

Mercury is an immunosuppresant which these bugs (Lyme and co-infections) sequester to make life even more miserable on you.
I removed mine and did DMSA chelation while on antibiotics. About to start another round, since working out recently I have brain fog and metal taste back again, something got redistributed.
I think mercury removal should be a priority, equal with lyme.

For what it's worth, I had mine removed by a dentist who knew what he was doing but I never recovered completely from lyme after years of treatment....in other words, I didn't really see that it helped...I know others have a different experience, though....

If you are allergic to toxic metals/mercury, and your body has lost the ability to regulate, you will not be able to get rid of it through "chelation" because your immune system doesn't recognize the toxin. It simply is shuttled from one place to the next. Most people from this board who have taken the Allergie Immun test have found this to be the case; including me, until I did AI and now it is leaving my body very nicely.
I agree, it certainly doesn't help if the body can't let it go because it is misinformed.

I have 10 amalgams and can't afford to have them removed (probably would have to have the teeth removed if I did, they are large fillings).
I've had metal testing and somehow mercury never shows up high, and neither does lead (even though I worked in a lead smelting factor for over a year with no gloves and no mask!)
I think having them removed can be harmful if you aren't careful and slow about it, and you have to have someone REALLY know what they are doing.
But as for me.. I can't afford to do it. Yes, I would love to have them taken out, but I can't. I've had Lyme disease for over 20 years undiagnosed and I just don't think it will make all that much difference.
People say "Oh but it's worth it, come up with the money SOMEHOW!"... well to me it's not worth it if you simply can't come up with the extra money and it would put even more hardship on your family than there already is. My whole family of 5 has chronic LD. It just can't be done. So I can't bother worrying about it.
