Hi everyone- I am having some symptoms I wanted to ask about.. not sure if this is a herx or lyme symptoms or what.. any help is appreciated.

I did a 4 week trial of doxy and then switched to amoxicillin 3000mg a day. Since taking the amox I have had severe headaches (with a dizzy sick feeling), bad GI pain, bad leg pain in my right leg (GI Pain and Leg Pain were my worst lyme symptoms), a severe pain in my arms at night- waking with dead, painful, tingling arms and hands.

Also been struggling to sleep and have been dreaming all night, but in a surface level sleep where I wake up and go right back to the dream for 10 mins and then wake up again.

I am so incredibly uncomfortable and in so much pain. Considered going to ER last night for the head pain it was so severe. I am on day 9 of amoxicillin.

Thoughts? Help? Thanks guys.
RENNY

I'm no expert and am a newbie as well...but it certainly sounds like a Herx. I wouldn't know though because I really haven't herxed yet myself. I'm only on my 9th day of treatment (but whose counting.)

When symptoms worsen, it's usually a herx.

Drink lots of water, add some lemon as lemon is detoxing.

Try a diet like you would eat if you had the flu. I drank lots of broth when I had more severe GI pain. Try taking your meds with a meal, not just a snack. Be sure you're taking probiotics, including s boulardii to prevent c diff.

My LLMD would allow me to stop a day or two if the herxing was too severe. A headache that would send you to the ER is a pretty severe herx.

Check with your doctor.
