I suddenly came down with sore glands, GI problems, anxiety, night sweats, calve pain, restless legs after stopping 5 months of Rifampin/Zith late last year.

My LLMD thinks Bart has come out and wants to start with 300mgs of Doxy and 500mgs 2x daily of Cipro.

I am a little apprehensive about Cipro (please not floxing stories, I know all about it) but want to give it a try as I did Levaquin long ago for Prostititis with no problems. However I am a bit worried about starting right off the bat with 500mg 2x daily. Did anyone here start at 250mg or 500mg daily and then work up? Don't want to end up in the hospital. I have a history of panic attacks (though no since treating with Rifampin) and don't want to end up in the hospital with heart or panic symptoms.

Also, how long were you on this combo for Bart? Did you ever pulse Cipro with Doxy? (7 days a month or 5 days a week).

Thanks for any feedback from Cipro/Bart patients!

I'm on a similar combo. I had very little trouble with the cipro. I did ramp up over a week or so.

I had a really painful knee (one I had some surgeries on 20 years ago)...but that passed after a couple of days.

Cipro doesn't seem to give me any trouble.

Doxy...I have some more issues with. It seems to make me feel pretty ill.

It's so strange, how different meds affect us. I thought Rifampin was gonna kill me after 3 days. Then I read others here who got real sick on Cipro..but for some reason, I haven't had any troubles.

Daughter started low and slow 125mg of Cipro 2x a day, after three days- increased anxiety. so we backed down to 125mg 1x a day.

She was supposed to take 250mg twice a day. But she is sens. so we always start low and slow.

Anxiety did not lessen and other symptoms persisted that only showed up on the Cipro. So not sure if side effects or herx.

But after 5 weeks Dr. told us to stop. Now says anxiety is a side effect .

Still has increased nervousness after stopping the Cipro two weeks ago.

I do not mean to discourage you. I read that you have some anxiety, so it may increase this for you.

Hope you have better luck. One thing that it seemed to help with is her urine frequency.
