So..I'm on 400mg of Doxy. So far, no issues with the sun.
Granted, I haven't gone to the beach of anything. I ususally put on SPF 50. But I Have been outside a bunch and have also driven long distance with no problems in the sun
Could it be I am more "resistant" to this side effect?

I don't. That said, it's not like I spend a lot of time out in the sun but I drive in the sun and was out for 15-20 min last sunday and it was very sunny and hot. I did not wear any kind of protection. No problem.

I think it depends also on how many bugs you have? In the beginning I could not be in the sun for a minute and now it is ok for 5 -10 minutes. Any ideas?

I haven't burned, but have taken precautions. I can sit in the sun for 10 minutes without sunscreen and nothing happens. If I am going to be in the sun longer I wear sunscreen, and a big hat, long pants, long sleeves, etc.
I am also on low dose so that might make a difference. I sure wouldn't go and lay out on the beach or anything.

My daughter does not burn on Doxy. She was on IV Doxy for a very long time and now is on oral 400 mg. a day. I am on oral doxy and I burn easily.

I do-I stopped it and started it twicce and still burnt. The first time it was bad I couldn't be outside for 5 mins without burning.
The second time I could be outside a little longer but usually wore 70 SPF sunscreen. If I stayed out there too long-even with the sunscreen I was burnt!
When I was on 400 mg I got that 'doxy-ice pick- prickly" feeling on my extremities after being in the sun for 5-10 min. My skin never burned but once I got that feeling, it would take a couple of days to go away so be careful, it sucks. Even running water over my hands hurt.
I think dosage and how long you've been treating plays a role, but I've heard of people that are not affected.

While on 200mg, I never burned and it's tropical here all year round. I still wouldn't assume you won't burn. Those who've gotten a Doxy burn say it's terrible. Better safe than sorry.
