I have late stage chronic lyme disease and Babesia Duncani. Been very sick for past 5 years, bedridden most of it.
Long story short, received some type of bite last week on back patio. It was about a 3" rash on inside of lower arm, lasted about 3-4 days. The temporary rental we are in backs right up to the golf course so I didn't think too much about it. Then, hubby saw deer in the neighbor's yard.
At that point of course I panicked (even though knowing vector infections can be carried by many critters...not just deer.
Hubby took me into LLMD office but had to see naturopath as LLMD was out. ND prescribed Doxy 100mg 2x daily. Not high enough I know. I started taken 200mg x2. Maybe that should be spread out though at 100 mg x4 for less liver pain??
But, here is my question. With already having late stage lyme already is a new bite all that alarming?? I mean I already have lyme anyway, late stages.
I am confused about whether I should be taking the Doxy or not. I currently have picc line and for other reasons on a ABX break. Right now I have a moderate yeast infection and being treated with Difflucan. Seems like the Doxy could interefere with that??
Most significantly I need to be able to physically get out to make purchase selections for reconstruction items on my home. Since starting the Doxy I am getting worse and afraid it will prevent me from doing what I have to do in order to get back into my house. Now about 3 months into 6 month lease agreement and don't want to end up having to renew 6 month lease.
Also worried that with late stage lyme and ND didn't RX a buster of any sort so might the Doxy without a cell wall agent actually do more harm than good at this stage???
I don't know whether I should keep taking this stuff or what? Can't see LLMD until Thrs. Just wondering what the experienced folks here have to say. Y'all have always been so wonderful to help with answers...greatly appreciated...thank you!!

If it were me (I've had a new bite recently too- stirred up a couple of symptoms I'd gotten rid of b/f with Tx), I'd take the doxy for sure. Keep in mind that it also treats Ehrlicia.
I agree with you about the triple combo thing. When will your LLMD be back? Hopefully he/she can put you on it- or you can request the Rx's from the LLND.
Maybe think about Tx for any new coinfections too?

The issue for me is that I was never able to treat to long enough to rid symptoms in the first place so I still have it....just with new bite now.
So my question really is this. Is starting Doxy all that relevant when one already has late stage lyme.
Sorry I have bad brainfog and am not wording this well.
I know resuming treatment at some point is important. But, what I am asking is time as to when to start it really as critical? Obviously someone never bitten should start ASAP. But, if already with late stage lyme it seems that relegates the time factor as somewhat moot point....or does it???
Thanks for helping.

Just went thru the same thing in June. Doxy is helping to clear my head of some Borrelia, i believe!
I'm not a healthcare pro, but my suggestion is do take 200 mg 2x/day with food (at B & D) so 400 mg total. Take it in the middle of a significant meal.
Be sure to drink 3 to 4 oz coconut kefir each day, not around abx. Be totally GF Candida control diet. You must starve the yeast until they're silent (no food or alcohol cravings). Also take Florastor and another probiotic.
