I have had unrelenting pain in this area. At times it has felt like someone beat the backs of my knees with a bat! Can't offer anymore than that; don't know what causes it.

me too - same thing 24/7. i think that's where some major muscles or tendons meet, at the back of the knee area..really constricted, painful.

i also have pain in the sacroiliac area--i think it's all connected. my massage therapist taught me that.

I get it too. It is HORRIBLE pain-nothing helps, I hate it.

I would love to know where it comes from.

And just wanted to add again...GO REDSKINS!

Its just so puzzling. I can't figure out if its a detox problem? Muscle pain? Nerve pain?

Mine hurt so bad and are getting worse.

My dr said since its both legs, its probably bart. I'm just not so sure.

Hey, littlebit! Boo Redskins!

Lymphs are there and need to be drained.

I did cold laser lymph treatments and they did behind the knees each time.!!

ALong with other obvious areas like under arms and around neck and collar bone and the low back too....

Those spots always now remind me of how important it is to keep those areas detoxing and draining.

YOu can do lymph massages. Rife or other frequency or iight can help drainage as well..

Or rebounding .. etc

You might have bursal cysts behind the knees, or bursitis.

When I was first diagnosed, one of my symptoms was an area of swelling and major pain and inflammation behind my knees, on the backs of my legs. The LLMD noticed it and said it happens commonly in Lyme. It's gotten better overall through my treatment process, but it returns or worsens when I am in a flare, herx, or overdo things.

It is basically inflammation of the Synovial bursa, which is the fluid-filled sac surrounding the joints. When the area becomes inflamed, it can be called bursitis or bursal cysts.

You might have noticeable swelling behind the knee, or it might not be visible.

There is a good explanation and diagram of synovial bursa here:

I get that feeling too but only behind my right knee.

Most of my symptoms are on my right side for some reason.

I had the same horrible pain in the knees, calves, and feet. Dr W in Denton has been treating me for lyme and Bart. In fact just a couple of weeks ago, I posted about it. I now think I have turned a corner. My pain is now down to a 2 and I have been riding a Bike every morning for a week now. I started slowly and doing short distances. It is a miracle! I still have some aches and still have the buzzing, but I am very encouraged about my progress. So keep going on treatment! I am on Bicillin shots 2X week and rifampin 2 @ night, plus supplements and B12 shots daily.

I have just recently gotten this kind of pain behind my right knee. Can hardly walk. It started for me after a week of Tindamax. Haven't had this before.

Am treating for lyme and Bart.
