my throat closed yesterday and i couldn't breathe.

looked at my throat and i've got cottage cheese on my tongue and i'm pretty sure my entire mouth is white.

i've got two weeks of 150 dilfucan. is one pill a day enough or is it time to go to doctor.

have started a very very strict no sugar diet.

also, the skin burning is yeast i'm sure.

i do have a dr's appt next wednesday or should i call now?

when do you go to the er for yeast?

this terrifies me as mom had systemic yeast when she died. her throat and lungs were full of it. so this scares me to death.

am getting leg cramps, itchy eyes, jittery, no sleep, all the systems. i think i scored over 200 on the candidate test in the book "candida connection". so i'm pretty sure i have it.

has anybody else had it this bad? what did you do?

Do the Burrascano mouth cleanse. My lyme doc told me to use hydrogen peroxide to scrub my mouth. For really bad cases, notice that Burrascano says to make up a Clorox mixture. I would try it in your case.

Then, open the probiotic capsule and sprinkle the entire thing on your tongue and let it set there until totally gone, even if that takes an hour or more.

From page 34 of Burrascano:

MANAGING YEAST OVERGROWTH
Many patients with weakened defenses, such as from chronic illnesses, including Lyme Disease, develop an overgrowth of yeast. This begins in the mouth and then spreads to the intestinal tract. Therefore the primary line of defense is careful oral hygiene, replenishing the beneficial bacteria by daily intake of yogurt, Kefir, and/or acidophilus, and by following a strict low carbohydrate diet.

ORAL HYGEINE:

CLEANSING
Brush the teeth, tongue, gums, inner cheeks and palate first with toothpaste, then again for 30 seconds while holding an antiseptic mouthwash in the mouth Then, rinse by scrubbing while holding
plain water in the mouth.

TOOTHPASTE
Use ``AP-24'' toothpaste, sold by NuSkin Enterprises. Unlike conventional toothpastes that may contain alcohols, formaldehydes and abrasives, this product cleans in a unique way. It contains two ``surfactants'' (detergent-like cleansers) that are very effective without being harsh. This product is available in two forms- regular and whitening (both contain fluoride). Choose either one.

In addition, get from them their patented toothbrush that is designed to work with this toothpaste. It cleans better and is far gentler than regular or electric toothbrushes.
Order AP-24 products by calling 1-800-487-1000. The U.S. reference # is 9256681-R

MOUTHWASHES
Use an antiseptic mouthwash (Scope, Listerine, etc.), and brush the teeth, tongue, gums, cheeks and the roof of the mouth while holding the mouthwash in the mouth. Do this for 30 seconds, then rinse repeatedly with water.
For especially thick or resistant thrush, the most effective (and drastic) treatment, employed as a last resort, consists of using "Dakin's Solution" as a mouth rinse. Make this by mixing one teaspoon of household liquid bleach (Clorox) in four ounces of water. A small amount is held in the mouth while brushing, then spit out, and repeated until the thrush has cleared. This is usually a one-time treatment, but may have to be repeated every few weeks.
After using an antiseptic, it is necessary to immediately eat yogurt or chew an acidophilus capsule to replenish the beneficial flora in the mouth. Because the germ count, both harmful and beneficial, will be artificially reduced after such a cleaning, and because yeasts are opportunists, the yeast infection can come
back. By having the yogurt or acidophilus then, the yeast will be crowded out and a more normal oral flora will result.

INTESTINAL TRACT: An overgrowth of yeast here will ferment dietary sugars and starches, forming acids, gas, alcohols and a variety of organic chemicals. Symptoms include gas, bloat, heartburn and/or pain in the stomach area, and because of the organic chemicals, there can be headaches, dizziness, lightheadedness, wooziness and post-meal fatigue. To clear intestinal yeast, first the tongue and mouth must be cleansed so yeast does not reenter the system with every swallow.

You should go to the E.R. if your throat is closing up. That's dangerous.

I started getting a yeastie feel in my mouth last week. It starts as sores on & under the tongue and a white film. I got right on it!

I began rinsing with a combo of cider vinegar, water, & salt. About 5-6 times daily. It may be that the cider vinegar neutralizes the content in my mouth. I follow up with pure virgin coconut oil. It melts in your mouth. I just apply it under my tongue, in the jaws...swish it around good, gargle maybe (using about 1 TBSP). It seems to sooth the soreness. After I do this for 2 days, the sores go away & the symptoms alleviate.

My doc has me on Diflucan 2 times per week to kill the yeast. Plus, I'm on probiotics, too. I take one in the morning, one in the evening. So far, no vaginal yeast infections have occurred, thank God.

I haven't had any severe reactions though. My throat never closes up, but my tongue does get whitish. I hope you get better!

Brainstorm thought!!!! I know this sounds crazy, weird, or whatever, but....

My horse gets thrush in his hooves. Regularly. Treating with an antifungal soak knocks it out pretty good. I've been advised to use bleach & vinegar. Anything with an antifungal/bacterial agent cures it, until he contracts it again from the soil, which is pretty regular.

Interesting thought.

I agree with the others, if you feel like your throat is closing up and you are having trouble breathing then it is time to go to the ER.

If your mouth is coated and it's just grossing you out and gaging you then you can start treatment at home.

You can take the Nystatin liquid with the Diflucan. Swish as long as you can, for a at least couple minutes before you swallow it.

Diflucan 150-200mg is the usual daily dose. You will probably need a couple weeks of it.

Take a couple acidophilus/bifidus based probiotic capsules two or three times per day if possible.

Don't take the Florastor right now. You might want to talk with your doctor before you start that up again. Itching and burning makes me worry that you may be allergic to it.

I hope you feel better soon randibear [Smile]

Oh Randi.

It usually takes about 12-24 hours for me to see or feel

Like those yeastie beasties are gone following diflucan (fluconazole).

I only weigh 115lbs and my LLMD said when I was almost systemic that I could take two pills to start.

Each pill was 200mg. Then follow it every day with one diflucan.

I've done the yeast cleansing with the clorox and water.

If your throat or mouth is already irritated, I wouldn't recommend that.

It really was nasty.

Make sure to take your probiotics too!

Hugs,

Geneal

oh gen, i just had a complete meltdown. i called my sister long distance during the day!! i was jittery and walking the floor, sobbing. guess herx huh?

i just picked up the prescription -- only 3 damn pills of 150 each. that ain't gonna cut it!!

now probiotics...should i take them with diflucan and how much? i have critical care, jarrow, and pb8 and one other. or is this too much?

i read somewhere never to take florastor if you have yeast problems....go figure...

i've had boiled eggs, carrots, celery, and some pot roast today, that's all.

down 16 pounds...

yeah the old throat is really irritated.

think i'll just tough it out on that lexapro. something's gotta give.

randibear, if you are not able to eat and your blood sugar drops you will feel irritable, depressed, and all over bad.

You may need to try to eat more often like every 2hrs while you adjust to the new no sugar diet. And remember that fats and proteins will help keep your blood sugar stable longer.

You can have a serious herx from yeast too.

Don't take your probiotics with the diflucan.

I usually take my probiotics right before bed.

I hope you get some relief soon.

I am so sorry you are feeling so bad.

Sending you prayers of healing, love and support.

Hugs,

Geneal
