I have this large golf ball size area on the outside of my knee. I just noticed it last night. I remember banging my knee about 2 weeks ago but it did not appear until last night. I do not have a noticable bruise. It is not on the bone but around the muscle on the inside part of the leg. I am wondering if this may be due to an inflammatory process? I am feelng horrible today with extreme joint pain, toe numbness, tingling, left side facial numbness etc.

I think it's definitely inflammation due to Lyme. I had swelling on the inside of my knee once also. In my case, I think it came after a heavy dose of one of the antibiotics I was on. Maybe after increasing the dose, so I think it was a response to a kill. It could just be inflammation due to the infection alone, however.

I know of someone (brother of a good friend) who had their knee drained and it was full of Lyme disease according to my friend.

Where do you go to test for lyme from a fluid draw? I would think most orthopaedic doctors are going to think you are crazy if you ask them.
