and treating until the resolution of symptoms may never happen if my 'tingling' lasts forever?
Maybe it's damage that will never go away? How do you know??

Sorry to hear that! I know you and I both are dealing with primarily neuro symptoms. I wonder the same myself. My Neurologist told me that the central nervous system heals itself at a much slower pace than it injures itself. Nerves do regenerate in time.
My right big toe is almost trying to contract. It pulls down hard and cramps. I have tried Mg supplements which dont help at all.
I think treat the cause, Bb, and the nervous system will settle down eventually.

I think it is possible, but may gradually heal over time.

- Kimmie,
D3 levels need to be adequate for magnesium to work. And B-6 is required for it to get into our cells. You may need to do shots or IV to get the levels up.
St. O, as for nerve damage, yes , it is possible but it won't help to dwell on it. We do the best we can, offer our bodies the best in nutrients and care and hope that as full a healing can happen.
As kimmie says, nerves can regenerate - but they do so very slowly.
We just move along. Even if some damage remains, the hope is that the rest of healing can counterbalance so that a good life can be enjoyed. -

I have heard some good things about Lion's Mane Mushroom in that it helps nerves to re-generate. Read about this on Dr. Weil's website. Did a search on his site. I plan to do a better internet search on it later. I have peripheral nervous system dysfunction causing orthostatic hypotension, so after I kill this infection, I want to try the Lion's Mane.
I also have read that 600 to 800 mg. of Alpha Lipoic Acid has been helping diabetic patients to heal their nerve damage.
There is hope.

I am primarily neuro also. waistdown paralysis at one point before dx.
I am with Keebler. I will not go there about permanent.
Attitude is huge in overall wellbeing. IMO.
Nerve recovery is so slow and irregular it would be premature to say that until a very long long time has gone by...like tons of years.
I have wondered same though but now discovered I have had Bart all along. but even so there is gradual improvement with an overall program including prayer there has been irregular improvement...very very slow but it is nevertheless. I saw most noticeable slow leaps of improvements after prayer actually. but all portions of tx have contributed something important.
Massage therapist really helped upper and lower body to reconnect...and even lower that tingling numbness etc but had to stop with fresh infection.
this thread has info that helps...D & Mg etc my ankle does that and Mg has not helped yet...
Nerve detox is pretty important...old exposures to pesticides and all such nasty neuro stuff

I see you have taken flagyl from Feb through August.
Burrascano on flagyl:
"Flagyl can be irritative to the nervous system- in the short term, it may cause irritability, "spacey" feelings, etc. Longer term, it can affect the peripheral nerves, causing tingles, numbness, etc. If mild, a change in dose may be required. Often, extra vitamin B can clear these symptoms. If the nerve symptoms persist or are strong, then metronidazole must be discontinued or these symptoms may become very long lasting." (page 15)
My lyme doc emphasized vitamin B for nerve problems.
"VITAMIN B (required). Clinical studies demonstrated the need for supplemental vitamin B in infections with Borrelia, to help clear neurological symptoms. Take one 50 mg B-complex capsule daily. If neuropathy is severe, an additional 50 mg of B-6 can be added. Generics are OK." (page 28)
Also, starting on page 29, Burrascano lists 5 supplements for those with neurological symptoms.
I hope you have taken a look at this list and consider taking as many of these as possible.
Do all you can to help heal your nerves by giving them what they need to heal.
Hopefully, in a few months, you will be able to report noticeable improvement.
I had a lyme friend who was concerned that her brain would never get back to normal. Lyme had debilitated her mentally to a terrible degree.
Her doc said that if she still had periods of clarity in the last year, then she would get all her brain function back. My friend had not had any periods of clarity in that timeframe. Still, she got all her brain function back. She treated lyme for 3 years.
Before lyme, she had had a professional job. After years of undiagnosed lyme, she had to go to a bank teller's job and was about to lose her job due to memory lapses costing the bank money.
Her lyme doc got her a 3 month leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act and this saved her job. In that time, she was able to improve enough to return to work.
I tell you all this because the brain is the central part of the nervous system. So, this is how her brain was able to recover with good treatment.
Attacks by lyme on the peripheral nerves cause the tingling feeling. Good treatment should help the peripheral nerves significantly.
I hope you did not get a worsening of the tingling when you took flagyl. If so, that could take some time to heal, as stated by Burrascano above.

I used to worry about that too. But for me, I can tell you that over time, the vast majority of neuro symptoms have gone away. I think it should for you as well. Don't forget that when you're herxing, your neuro symptoms will get worse as well.
