I sleep well every other night. Many nights I get little sleep and the further I go in treatment, the less sleep I get. I know I need lots of sleep to get better, but I can't sleep, period! ****es me off!

Sleep on my left side and my arm kills, sleep on my right side and my right foot kills, sleep on my back and my upper back kills. I can't win.

What the heck do I do? Doc does not like to hand out sleeping pills.

I can only sleep a couple hours without drugs. Tried every supplement there is. I do take supplements also, though.

I wake up every 30-60mins most nights. I never feel well rested because of this.

I have Ambien and Xanax which both help with my sleep. I don't like to take them everynight and usually alternate when I do need them.

Both help me. Ambien will knock me out for 7 hrs but then I am awake at 7 with no chance of going back to sleep. I don't feel completely rested.

Xanax helps me fall asleep and a lot of the time prevents the waking up every hour.

I still always feel tired. [Frown]
Good luck.

I usually do well with sleep until I herx bad and then I'm up off and on from, what feels like, sleep apnea and hallucinations (not fun!). So far, though, I've not needed any sleeping aids.

I can't sleep without pharmaceuticals. NOPE.

Rich.. I hear you on the painful body parts. I spend 95% of the night on my back. Can't last long on either side.

It does sound like pain is waking you up. I had a similar problem when I got tendonitis from levaquin. I had to try to sleep sitting up for 8 months. It was impossible.

Then I started taking amino acids, which repair tendon damage etc. Specifically I found out DL Methionine works best for me. I also take Lysine and cystein and carnitine. But Methionine is a precursor to SAMe which helps with pain and it repairs damage. I take 500mg a day but you could try much more. Since the first night I took it I have not had the pain. I have read some people use whey products for the same reason - amino acids.

I also take magnesium, B12 for nerve damage and muscles.

A very good herb for sleeping is Corydallis root which also helps with pain. It is supposed to be 40% as powerful as morphine.
I have taken two capsules at bedtime for over a year with no side effect, no hang over and no resistance. It is so much better for me than ambien which affected me mentally.

Drugs can cause me to have insomnia. I take tindamax twice a week and can expect a difficult night. Bart is horrible for insomnia and treating it makes it all worse - until it gets better.

Knock on wood I am sleeping now.

Can Corydallis root be mixed with OTC drugs like Sominex?

Where to get Corydallis root? I don't want to pay shipping. I'll keep trying health food stores. I checked Whole Foods and they looked at me like I was nuts when I mentioned Corydallis root.

I had another bad night last night. Awake by 4am and unable to get comfortable or fall back to sleep due to pain!

My son has sleep problems. They did a sleep study and his sleep architecture was awful. So they gave him Ambien. It gave him double vision and made him really confused. Had to take him to the ER.

We found a natural supplement called Bio-Nite. which helps him a lot. You have google and get it online. I don't think the health food stores have it. It contains melatonin, valerian root and chamomile. His lyme is in remission now which has obviously helped. But the Bio-Nite helped even before remission. He still takes it because he says it helps keep him from waking in the middle of the night.

Unfortunately, we have to pay the shipping because we can't find it locally, but it has been worth it.
