Hi all,

I'm newly infected and have come to realize that my GP is giving me HORRIBLE advice (ex, said "not to worry" about Lyme despite finding an embedded deer tick that came back positive for B. Burdorferi...)

Any recommendations on an LLMD in the NYC Metro area?

Thanks so much for the help and advice.

Amy

If you can't find anyone closer, I have an LLMD near a train station in Westchester. You would have to take a taxi though for a short ride to his office. I highly recommend him.

Email me if you are interested. Best of luck.

Hello,

I am also being told not to worry- 3.5 weeks after finding a tick, which came back positive, which I scratched from behind my ear- My doctor says that the raised red bump near the fingernail that scratched the tick doesn't look suspicious- and that the flu symptoms I have are probably the flu. I hope that it is just the flu and hope that I'm being overly cautious- any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, SJ

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Just as a follow-up, I have an appointment with Dr. V on Staten Island on Dec. 8. I was a tad upset that I couldn't get anything sooner, but I got proactive and had someone write me a doxy script. So at least I have that in the meantime.

Jolie,
Zipzip and I are referring to the same dr. He can get you in almost immediately, which is his typical way of handling new patients.

Just an opinion, but if you see someone sooner, you won't have to worry so much.

Thanks, everyone. Just wanted to give another update.

I finally thought about the fact that EVERYONE who's well-versed in Lyme treatment in this area recommended Dr. C. and made an appointment with him. Sure enough, he'll see me right away, so I should have more answers on Wednesday.

I was being stubborn - part of me is still worried that I'm being a hypochondriac or malingering, so it seemed extravagent at best to go to a doctor who doesn't take my insurance just to calm my mind. (This is my own bs left over from the years it took me to get diagnosed with my other chronic illness.)

But after typing up my whole story, complete with onset of symptoms and all the dates - well, let's just it sure sounds like Lyme to me. And I wasn't crazy about the idea of waiting until the second week of December for my appointment.

Jolie, you made the right decision, and will now be able to have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Let us know how your visit goes with Dr. C.
