I was diagnosed with Lymes disease 2 months ago as well as rocky mountain spotted fever [cussing] . After months of going to the doctor for arthritis pains and muscle fatigue they finally tested my blood. I've been on doxi for 2 months and just two weeks ago finished my second round and am currently off doxi.

I suffer from horrible muscle pain, though my doctor won't do anything about it [confused] and poor eye sight.

Recently there has been swelling on the muscle at the site of the bite. The entire muscle is sore and hot to the touch. Just laying it on the bed hurts.

I'd like to find another doctor, one who specializes in disease. I'd like to find one in one of these areas Raleigh/Durham or Greensboro.

Hi and welcome - hopefully folks will be along soon with referrals.

You are welcome to post a new thread in Medical Questions and/or General Support for some discussion about your symptoms if you'd like to.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for NC, VA & MD.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/15615?#000005

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/northcarolinalyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources (including Support Group info):
www.lyme-aware.org/north-carolina.html

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is a very good source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
