Hello, I'm desperate to find an LLMD in the Hartford, CT area. I am willing to travel if necessary.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for CT & MA. When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this. Most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance": http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/15615?#000005 Check the online state Lyme groups at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/connecticutlyme Maybe they can help. Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):www.lyme-aware.org/connecticut.html The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information. Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon. View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

ILADS also has a doctor referral page on their website. I found the names they gave me to be very reasonable resources. Make sure you go and book your appointment as soon as possible because there will be a considerable wait for a first appointment. http://ilads.org/ilads_media/physician-referral/

Samlyme & pj273 - please read this link, "Is being a member of ILADS enough?", a very informative link about ILADS doctors, etc.: http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=024527;p=0#000000 Just because a doctor is a member of ILADS does not necessarily mean they know how to treat Lyme properly. The best way to find a good LLMD (Lyme-literate doctor) is from Lyme Support Groups or Lyme patient referrals.
