When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.
Most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

Samlyme - just because a doctor is a member of ILADS does not necessarily mean he/she is a good one and knows how to treat Lyme and co-infections properly.

The best way to find a competent LLMD is through personal referrals or state Lyme Group Support Groups.
