Hi,
I live in Los Angeles and am looking for a Lyme Disease specialist here. I have an HMO so I will be doing this out of pocket.

I was in eastern PA on Aug. 2 when I believe I accidentally removed a tick improperly from my leg (in the dark so I can 100% prove it was a tick but my finger was bloody and something hard between my fingers - and a rash developed there the next day)... have multiple symptoms consistent with the disease that started a month after possible exposure.

General blood test and x-rays show nothing unusual or unhealthy like mono. Convinced HMO doctor to test for Lyme - she had only surface knowledge of the disease before I tried to show her my research (and she didn't seem all that interested in hearing it but rather just quickly agreed to the blood test) but that test came out negative.

I'm not sure what lab they used - I asked in an subsequent email but she avoided that question. (HMO does not encourage direct contact with their overworked doctors.)

She has agreed to re-test me at the end of Oct. but I'm not comfortable waiting so long and have been investigating area doctors. Looking for any further leads. Thanks.
