I am a 21 year old seeking a LLMD on the Big Island of Hawaii (Kona). I would be willing to travel to the other Hawaiian islands if needed.

I have not been diagnosed with Lyme Disease but am showing symptoms so close to it. I am not sure where to begin with all of this and think a LLMD would probably be the best place to start.

I truly would appreciate any help I could get!

There aren't any in HI that I know of. Do you travel to the States at all?

Welcome to Lymenet! I don't know of any in Hawaii. You would have to travel to CA if you are able.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

When you call for an appointment, ask if there are any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

I spend some of the year in Florida but would rather travel to California or somewhere on the West Coast to see a LLMD.

Could you please send a message regarding doctors there?
