My daughter (age 19) and were recently diagnosed with Lyme. We are see a doctor but I'm not sure if he is a LLMD. he says he can help us, but I would like a second opinion on treatment options. We think we have been infected for at least 5 years. We both have autoimmune diseases as well. It's hard to tell which ailment is caused by which illness. I would be very grateful for any help. Feeling scared and overwhelmed. Thanks a bunch!!

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for OH. You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment! Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are. Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this: "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/15615?#000005 Check the online state Lyme groups at:https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/OhioLyme/info Maybe they can help. Some more resources (including Support Group info):www.lyme-aware.org/ohio.html The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information. Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon. View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com
