Looking for a LLMD or someone open-minded and resourceful who will consult with an LLMD (near Myrtle Beach, SC who accepts insurance (BC/BS).) Ruling everything out over 4 years, getting Hematology blood work (results tomorrow) without Lyme test, BUT Labcorp and skin biopsy (negatives) were completed recently by Dermatologist. Started on Doxy 100 mg 2xday (Dermatologist); but with significant weight loss before ever starting it, after becoming so sick in day five I couldn't eat (plus other things), I had to stop. Day 7 still having hard time eating due to nausea. When I get my weight back up I may start again at half dose, or maybe wait on other doctors recommends. PM me with a recommend please. Thank you very much.

Why LLMD's don't take insurance:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/25539?

I don't know of ANY LLMD's in SC. Can you make it to NC??

You might be able to take doxy if you take it in the MIDDLE of a FULL meal and do not lie down for an hour after taking it. It will burn your esophagus if you don't do this.

I'll be back tomorrow! hang in there! [Smile]

Welcome to Lymenet!

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are. I don't know of any in SC.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When you call for an appointment, ask if there are any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/SouthCarolinaLyme/info

Maybe they can help you.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups):
www.lyme-aware.org/south-carolina.html

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.
