I am in need of help finding a lyme literate doc in/near Nebraska or Iowa.
I have been experiencing tons of health problems in the last 10-12 years...a lot of which seem to be unexplainable. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, bipolar tendencies, my headaches & migraines have increased, I have a history of ITP blood disorder & idiopathic hypersomnia. Someone asked if I had been tested for Lyme but I hadn't. Didn't know or see a need until I did some thinking & back in the summer of 2003, I was bit by some kind of insect/aracnid.
I was told by the ER doc I saw that it appeared to be a brown recluse bite but I was never 100% sure of that.I had one spot/rash on my right inner thigh & 2 weeks later another appeared on the back of my left leg just above the knee fold. I was extremely sick after the first & even paralysed from the waist down for 3 days. Took 4 weeks for the spots to heal & for me to feel somewhat normal again but I've still been all sorts of sick since.
I'm beginning to wonder if those spots/rashes were tick or lyme related. I'm wanting to get testing. Its been 12 years but everything I've been going through fits with late stage lyme. However, lyme disease is not known to occur in Nebraska so I think I'm in for a hurdle to get the testing or a doctor to listen.
Help is appreciated!

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.
