I'm 34 years old male, living in Richmond Virginia.
During the course of past 5-6 years I had half a dozen tick bites. About three and a half months ago I have started exhibiting some weird neurological and physical symptoms:
- Headaches - Anxiety attacks lasting several hours. - Electric sensations in the head and body. - Depression. - Sensitivity to light and sound. - Fatigue. - Pain in the chest area. - Randoom joint pain. - Muscle twitching all over the body (muscles, toes, fingers).
I saw my physician regarding the symptoms. He had me do the blood tests and MRI. Blood tests and MRI came back negative. LabCorp did the lyme disease test.
My resent research led me to believe that these test are not entirely accurate, so today I've ordered the test kit from Igenex and decided to find a good LLMD in my area, while I'm waiting for the kit.
If someone can recommend LLMD in my area it will be much appreciated.
You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.

I've read the "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take insurance".
I've already watched the "Under our Skin".
I've will order the two books you recommended and checkout the resource links.
I hope someone here can recommend a good LLMD in Virginia (preferably in Richmond area).

The one I recommend is in the D.C. area.
I don't know of anyone good in the Richmond area. You have to be willing to travel. Lyme docs are not in every city. In fact, there are many states that have NO good lyme docs.
If you would like the name of the doc I am recommending, let me know.

I am certainly willing to travel. I'm willing to do about anything right now ... pretty desperate.
Could you please pm me the name and contact info for the doctor you are recommending.
Thanks!

Sent you the name and lots of information.
Good for you for not trusting that lousy Labcorp lyme test. Virginia now has a law that folks that get negative lyme tests have to be informed that they could still have lyme. Did you see that on your test results? I hope so.
Welcome to LymeNet! We will help you here all we can.

SGS, I recommend a doctor in the D.C. area.
Contact the lyme support groups near you to find out if there is anyone good around Richmond. I don't know of any.
See Support Groups on the left side of the page.
If you come to the doc in D.C. area, you can do telephone appointments after the first in-person appointment, so you do not have to travel to see him every month. He can see you in a few days.
Let me know if you want the name.
Also, what is the age of your daughter? Pediatric lyme docs are RARE. But, some lyme docs will see older kids.

SGS - Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for VA & MD.
You should write a new post instead of adding on to an existing one. That way, more people will see it and respond, because most don't re-read old posts. Please tell us how old your daughter is, as some LLMDs do not treat children.
