The pieces are all coming together. It's been 25 years since the tick bite and I'm finally realizing that I've been suffering from LD most of my life. I really need to find a San Diego LLMD who can handle a long infected case like mine. Please PM any help and info I can find in San Diego, CA. Thank you!!

Welcome to LymeNet! Sorry nobody from your area has come along to help you yet. I don't know the Calif. lyme doctors.

I suggest you see Support Groups on the left side of the page. Contact all in your state and other nearby states. They should be able to tell you who is good.

Also, there is a poster here from Calif who goes by Robin123. I suggest you write to her and ask for names.

Here is a thread that she posted on:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=035085;p=0#000035

She is the last poster.

Just click on her name to send her a private message asking for names.

I went undiagnosed for at least 10 years. Still, once I got to a doctor who followed the Burrascano LYme Treatment Guidelines, I got rid of lyme and my 2 coinfections (babesiosis and bartonella).

And, I had a friend who had these diseases for 50 years (got them in utero) and still got rid of them by going to a doc who followed the Burrascano protocol.

So, good for you for figuring this out and asking for a doctor here. I suggest you read and STUDY the Burrascano protocol. It is here:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Then, ask the Support Groups for a doc who follows Burrascano.

Here are a few points from Dr. B's guidelines:

You must attack both the regular and cyst (or other) form of lyme simultaneously--requires at least 2 different antibiotics to do so.

You must test the patient for all co-infections and other physical ailments (thyroid, etc.) and treat everything the person has.

You must treat all co-infections the patient has(including babesiosis, bartonella, ehrlichia, mycoplasma, etc.) or the patient will not get well.

You must use Igenex for most of these tests--they are a tick-borne disease speciality lab in Calif.

You must use very high doses of antibiotics to kill the diseases (batericidal doses).

You must give the patient supplements, probiotics, herbs such as artimesinin if babesiosis is suspected, and require adherence to rules such as low carb diet, no alcohol, no smoking, rest, and exercise as the patient is able to do it.

You must treat at least 2 months after all symptoms have disappeared (if sick at least 1 year).

These are just a few of the important points you will see in the guidelines. If possible, you want a doc who does EVERYTHING Burrascano says to do. He treated lyme for over 25 years, and compiled what he learned so that other docs could benefit from it. He was the most successful lyme doctor on the planet. They came from every country in the world to be treated by him.

Doctors who specialize in lyme disease are used to getting cases like yours. They are too numerous to count, mostly thanks to the miseducation of our doctors by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).

So, do not despair. You can definitely be helped.

A Boston TV station did a show on the lyme disease controversy a few years ago. Here is the Boston Chronicle video on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3_JwDPqGAg

I suggest you watch this video a few times. It explains the lyme disease controversy and the role the IDSA plays in making it difficult for a person to get good lyme treatment.

We will help you here all we can. Keep reading and posting.

Thank you for all the info, TF. I'm so glad there is hope for relief from the fatigue, anxiety, and more that I've had most of my adult life. It sounds like a long journey to recover but at least I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Robin contacted me, thanks!
