Are there any LLMDs that will accept health insurance or at least docs where services will be reimbursed at a reasonable rate when submitted by patient. My husband was treated two years ago for 17 months, felt well and doc stopped treatment. He is now very ill again, back with same doc and we are near tapped out on resources, since health insurance is paying a fraction of the $800 bills submitted for two visits. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent with a suggestion.
Your husband needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Btw - you should not use your real name on Lymenet because this is a public forum with all sorts of people on it. Read the following link which explains why:
To remove your name from the signature line, click on "My Profile" under LymeNet Flash, then "Edit Profile" on the left side. Scroll down to "Profile Fields" where it says "Signature". Make your change, then click "Update Profile".

I don't know any GOOD lyme doctors in our area that take insurance.
In my experience, if you want to go to a doctor who can cure you, that doc will not take insurance.
I can recommend a very good doctor who likely can get your husband well, but the first visit is costly and insurance will NOT reimburse much. They treat it like any other 15 minute visit to a primary care doctor.
So, I don't think what you're asking for exists. But, it IS possible to get rid of this horrendous disease with the right doctor.
I had lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella and went undiagnosed for at least 10 years. Still, once I got to a doctor who followed the Burrascano protocol, I was symptom free in 8 months and finished with treatment in 13. I had about 9 visits in all.
This doc did not take insurance. He was my third lyme doctor, the 2 previous doctors took insurance and they did not follow Burrascano. I wasted my time with them.
It has now been over 10 years since I completed me treatment and I am still symptom free, enjoying my life. I have the same life I had before lyme disease.
The doc is the key to getting rid of this disease. I can't emphasize that enough. The doc is the key.
Let me know if you want the name of Maryland doctor I recommend. I can send you info on his costs, etc.
And, if you are not familiar with the Burrascano protocol, it is here:
You must attack both the regular and cyst (or other) form of lyme simultaneously--requires at least 2 different antibiotics taken together to do so.
You must test the patient for all co-infections and other physical ailments (thyroid, etc.) and treat everything the person has.
You must treat all co-infections the patient has(including babesiosis, bartonella, ehrlichia, mycoplasma, etc.) or the patient will not get well.
You must use Igenex for most of these tests--they are a tick-borne disease speciality lab in Calif.
You must use very high doses of antibiotics to kill the diseases (batericidal doses).
You must give the patient supplements, probiotics, herbs such as artimesinin if babesiosis is suspected, and require adherence to rules such as low carb diet, no alcohol, no smoking, rest, and exercise as the patient is able to do it.
You must treat at least 2 months after all symptoms have disappeared (if sick at least 1 year).
