I am currently living in Atlantic Beach, FL, helping to take care of my mom. I would love to know of LLMDs in this area, and if any take insurance (yes, I know it's highly unlikely, and why).
Unfortunately, I can't travel very far--more than 3 hours or so.
Thank you so, so much for your help!

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

Hey NMLiz,
You can go to www.FloridaLyme.org and look under doctor referrals. There is information on doctors in all 50 states- alternative and/or traditional- along with names and contact information.
You may also want to go to www.TreatTheBite.com where you'll find a one page print out with recommendations you can take to any doctor to be treated if you just got a tick bite.
If you'd like to have ticks tested in the future for several diseases there is a FREE (saves hundreds of dollars) place to do it right now. It would really help scientists map out the types of ticks and their locations too.
