I am a 32 year old male, have had ongoing health issues since late 2013 early 2014. Started with what seemed to be a violent flu that put me down for 2 weeks. Following that I have never regained full strength or health.

I have had ongoing issues with every segment of my body and they come and go, generally periods of feeling bad for a couple months followed by feeling somewhat better for weeks or months but not ever 100%.

I have had tingling in hands and feet, multiple infections, anxiety, nausea, periods of elevated heart rate, fluctuating blood pressure, abdominal pain, pain in wrist and one finger joint, muscle pains, recently started having cognitive issues with memory, reading, retaining information and memory

Throughout the past 2-3 years have generally always struggled with lightheadedness/dizziness almost to the point of confusion. Also, at age 32 about a month ago I had a seizure out of the blue. I lost consciousness for around 45 minutes and woke up in an ambulance. No family history of seizure.

Have had full workups from multiple docs including; PCP, infectious disease doc, 3 neurologists, gastro doc, etc. Have had multiple MRI of brain, spine, endoscope, colonoscopy, CT's of entire body.

All testing have come back normal except for a recent thyroglobulin AB test, d-dimer was elevated in 2014, and brain MRI shows non specific lesions. First MRI in 2012 for dizziness showed no lesions, MRI in 2014 showed 3 non specific lesions, and MRI last month showed 4 non specific lesions.

All Dr's continue to tell me its anxiety/stress related as they can find no evidence of disease. I have a 4 year old daughter that I am missing out on as I at times can hardly take care of my own self. I have a supportive family but am close to my wit's end and tired of waiting to feel better only to get worse. Many friends and family have suggested Lyme disease but I am uneducated on it other than from my recent research online and was unaware of all of the legal/political issues and difficulty with testing. I don't recall ever having a rash, I did get bit by a tick in 2015 (which was of course after my symptoms started).

I am looking for any help that anyone can provide out there. Preferably a Dr in Kentucky, Nashville TN, southern IN, or southern OH. Also, preferable one that accepts insurance as I have already spent thousands on tests in the last couple years with nothing to show for it.

Please help!

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for IN, OH, MO & VA

Your symptoms sound like Lyme to me. You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are. I don't know of any in KY.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/KentuckyLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on http://www.veoh.com/m/watch.php?v=v21055812yWtmpgB8

Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.

To do this click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.
