My daughter (17 year old) has just come down with Lyme disease symptoms and is starting a course of antibiotics. She has intermittent fever, aches, and a classic bulls eye rash. I am looking for the best doctor I can find in the DC MD metro area. (Bethesda, Gaithersburg home)
We're new to this and are trying to get started right. Any advice or personal referrals on specific doctors would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to LymeNet! I sent you the name of a good doc who can see her immediately, and he is not far from you at all.
We will help you here as much as we can.
Because you are catching this early and going to a good doc, she should do well.

The bull's-eye rash is definitive for Lyme. Your dear daughter needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner to see a LLMD by doing this.
