Hello all. I'm new to this forum, and I'm actually writing to find a good LLMD in Florida.
My boyfriend is in desperate need for a physician who is willing to do the appropriate tests and who is not going to give up on him.
My BF will be seeing a new primary care doctor in January 2017, and the receptionist at that office told me that the doctor would do lyme testing "if needed." That response did not sound promising...
Hence, I am trying to find doctors who are well-versed in lyme disease diagnosis and treatment, especially since my BF has been suffering for almost 20 years with what he and
I suspect could be lyme disease. I am happy to be a new member of this group, and I would be most appreciative of any recommendations. Thanks!
Your boyfriend needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. He needs to go where they are. There was a good one in Tampa, but he retired.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.
To do this click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.

If you go to www.FloridaLyme.org and look at the menu on your left you will see DOCTOR REFERRALS.
You can find Lyme treating health care professionals there, listed by state and country. It also has links to help find alternative doctors, chiropractors, specialists in Morgellons and MTHFR.
It has a listing for good labs, links to find a naturopathic doctor, acupuncture and oriental medicine doctors too.
Holistic dentists, experts in mold, and even places to avoid.
