I am looking for a LLMD for a child tested positive for Lyme at age of 5 years. Our Pediatrician doesn't think everything my child has been sick with for past 6 months has nothing to due with Lyme. We went to John Hopkins Disease specialist after being Diagnosed and we were told our child would be fine after antibiotics! Our child is continually sick and no one seems to want to help! I want my fun loving happy baby back!!! We have paid everything out of pocket and we are tired of just being told our child is fine.

Your child needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Here are some comments from Lymenet about Johns Hopkins: "Doctors at Johns Hopkins do not believe in chronic Lyme, nor do 99% of Infectious Disease doctors."
"I just wanted to let you know to be VERY careful with Johns Hopkins. They do not 'believe' in Lyme disease or the complex treatment.
You may find the rare doctor who does 'believe' or understand the complexity of Lyme to some degree - but they may not be able to treat, and they have to be quiet if they disagree with the establishment.
As an institution, JH's Infectious Disease department has been absolutely terrible for Lyme patients."
Here are a couple of links about Lyme and children with very good information:
Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.
To do this click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.
