I suspect that my 14 year old daughter has lyme, and would like to get recommendations for a lyme-literate doctor in the Culpeper, VA area. We can travel to northern VA, or south toward Fredericksburg/Charlottesville area. Thank you!

I sent you a name. This doc will see patients over age 11. And, there isn't any wait to get in with him. You would be in good hands with him.

Your daughter needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. She needs to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a book titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and a new one, "How Can I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.
Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

TF-Would you please message me with their contact info as well? I'm in Chantilly, VA but willing to travel anywhere north of Richmond if necessary.

Thank you all for your responses. I've got an appointment with an LLMD** in VA a week from Monday. I'll let you know how it goes.
**Name of LLMD and the city were deleted per Lymenet rules**

momof10. I know this doctor. Do you know of anybody she has ever cured? I don't. But I know a few of her patients and how she has been treating them for at least the last 3 years.
She is not that experienced in treating lyme in my opinion. I know the doctor she trained under, etc.
You may want to get more input before laying out the big bucks to see her.
The doc I recommended to you is much better.
