Jessy, are you willing to travel? There are very few lyme specialists who will accept patients as young as 8.
I know a great one (#2 best lyme doc in the east) in Washington, D.C. And, she only requires you to bring your child in person once every 6 months. You do monthly telephone appointments the other months.
Tell me if you want the name. There is no guarantee she will take you, but she tries to help young chidren especially, so I think your chances are good.
Let me know.

Your child needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between, so you need to go where they are. At least half of all Lyme patients travel out-of-state for treatment. None in SC.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.
Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
Btw - you should not use your real name (if you actually are) as your username, because this is a public forum with all sorts of people on it. Read this link about it:

Jessy- go(run!) with what TF gave you. I live in Chas. Even with MUSC- was told lyme was not in Chas. Best thing I did was listen to TF and got to a Burrascano like doc. My doc is Dr. H and in NY. There is simply no one good near us. Godspeed!
