I have had Lyme symptoms for over 2 years and getting worse. My Primary doctor said he wants me to see a good Lyme DR but is unable to locate one. I have searched for weeks online until I came to your board. I hope someone can give me some possible doctors to help me...

As far as I am concerned, there is no GOOD lyme doctor in New Jersey or New York City.
How far are you willing to travel to get good care?
I can give you a name in NJ but the doc is not good enough to get people well. Or, I can give you a name near Washington, D.C. whom I am sure can help you start feeling better in a few months and hopefully cure you in time.
You would only have to appear in person once every 3 months. He will do telephone appointments the other months. Let me know if you want the name. You would be in good hands with him.
You could take the train to D.C. if you didn't want to drive. Then, the subway.
Let me know.
Also, on the left side of the page, see Support Groups. Find the ones in NJ and NY that are near you. Ask them who is getting folks well.
MANY doctors treat lyme, but very few know enough to get a person well. I wasted over 2 years taking meds with 2 docs who didn't know enough to cure me. Then, I switched to a Burrascano type doctor and was treated for ALL of my diseases (lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella). These are the 3 that nearly every single lyme patient has.
In 8 months I was symptom free and in 13 I was finished with treatment. And, I had gone undiagnosed for at least 10 years. It has now been 12 years since I completed my treatment and I am still symptom free, enjoying my life. I have the same life I had before lyme disease! Praise God!
It is a high-dose combinations of antibiotics protocol. You will NOT be on just one antibiotic at a time. When Burrascano was still practicing, he was the most successful doctor on the planet when it came to curing lyme disease. They came from all the countries of the world to be treated by him.
I and at least 5 of my friends got rid of their lyme and coinfections by going to Burrascano type doctors. So, because of that, I only recommend doctors who follow Burrascano.
Lyme is a very complex disease (actually a number of diseases), so the doc is the key to getting well. You need a doc with lots of expertise in lyme treatment.
You can waste a lot of time and money taking antibiotics with doctors who don't know enough to get rid of lyme for folks. Or, you can travel to one of the very few lyme specialists who knows enough to get rid of it for you.
There is no wait to get in with the doc I recommend.
Here are a few points from Dr. B's guidelines:
You must attack both the regular and cyst (or other) form of lyme simultaneously--requires at least 2 different antibiotics taken together to do so.
You must test the patient for all co-infections and other physical ailments (thyroid, etc.) and treat everything the person has.
You must treat all co-infections the patient has (including babesiosis, bartonella, ehrlichia, mycoplasma, etc.) or the patient will not get well.
You must use Igenex for most of these tests--they are a tick-borne disease speciality lab in Calif.
You must use very high doses of antibiotics to kill the diseases (batericidal doses).
You must give the patient supplements, probiotics, herbs such as artimesinin if babesiosis is suspected, and require adherence to rules such as low carb diet, no alcohol, no smoking, rest, and exercise as the patient is able to do it.
You must treat at least 2 months after all symptoms have disappeared (if sick at least 1 year).
These are just a few of the important points you will see in the guidelines. If possible, you want a doc who does EVERYTHING Burrascano says to do. He treated lyme for over 25 years, and compiled what he learned so that other docs could benefit from it.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for PA, MD, & CT.
Here are some quotes from old posts about NJ:
"There are NO good LLMD's in NJ. NJ is a wasteland of bad docs. I can tell you from years of experience, unless you go with an established doc (of which there are only a few on the east coast) you will get under-treated and continue to relapse.
PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE. NJ is a bad place for ticks and a bad place for tick doctors."
"The LLMDs in NJ are not very good based on patients' experiences. People start with them then end up going to see other LLMDs out-of-state."
"Over the years, the folks in New Jersey have said that the best Lyme doctors are not there."
"I strongly suggest that you be willing to travel outside of New Jersey to get good treatment."
"There are Lyme doctors in the area you have named, but I don't recommend any of them. To get a good Lyme specialist, you will have to be willing to travel. At least half of all Lyme patients go out of state for their care."
You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.
Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

I am sending you some Drs in NJ and NY. The Drs in NJ are good if you know you have lyme and all 3 are very nice but not great with diagnosing. I am sending you 3 excellent lyme literate Drs in NY who are good at diagnosing and treating. A lot of people have a lot of terrible things to say about all Drs but their own, it is unfortunate, it keeps people from treatment. Sending pm

Hey, yelnoc123, please see this statement by newcomer Busy Bee (above): "A lot of people have a lot of terrible things to say about all Drs but their own, it is unfortunate, it keeps people from treatment."
Just want you to know that I've been cured for 12 years. I don't have a lyme doctor, and the ones I recommend I have never met. I stopped recommending the doc who cured me when he changed how he diagnosed and treated lyme disease and people began complaining to me about him.
You see, I recommend doctors based on the 7,000 lyme patient emails I have kept on my PC for the last 13 years. That is how I have amassed all the info I have on the NJ docs, the NYC docs, and the eastern Pa. docs.
People with experience with these doctors tell me all about them. I stick around LymeNet just to point folks to the good doctors--meaning the few who know enough to get rid of this horrendous disease for someone.
Hopefully, this can help you decide whom to believe when it comes to lyme doctors.

Cynthia: There is nobody good in New York City as far as I am concerned. There are doctors there who are very expensive and who treat lyme, but their treatment will NOT get you well.
Please know that there are just a handful of GOOD lyme doctors. You have to travel to see them. They are the ones who are getting folks well.
How far are you willing to travel? To Washington, D.C. once every 6 months? If so, I can send you info on a GREAT doctor there who treats only lyme disease. You will love her.

I know you are new to Lymenet, but you should write a new post instead of adding on to an existing one, because most don't re-read old posts. That way, more people will see it and respond.
PM sent for CT.
