I live in Timonium, MD. I’ve had Lyme for the last few years, despite steady doxycycline my symptoms seem to be worsening. I’ve been seeing Dr. A, but at this point I may want to see someone different. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I live in the Baltimore metro area.

I know all about Hopkins and how they treat lyme. Everyone on this site always says to stay away from them.
You are getting worse because your lyme is continuing to progress. Doxy alone is lousy lyme treatment. So sorry this happened to you.
Just leave and don't look back. We have all been there. When you are first starting out with lyme, you don't know how to pick a good doctor or what good lyme treatment looks like. So, it is typical that your first lyme doctor doesn't know enough to get you well.
That is precisely why I stick around LymeNet even though I have been cured for 12 years!
There is no substitute for an educated patient when it comes to this disease. So read and STUDY the Burrascano Guidelines.
This will help you understand what your new lyme specialist is telling you, and it will help you understand the treatment you are being given.
The doc is the key to getting rid of this horrendous disease. Can't emphasize that enough. Only a very few lyme docs know enough to do it for a person. You have to get to one of those few.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better". They are an excellent source of information.
Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

Click there to find the names and contact information for health care professionals treating Lyme & TBD's in your state (or any state).
