Tara, until others come along, I suggest you contact the lyme support groups in your area or near you. See Support Groups on the left side of the page.

Ask them who sees patients as young as 7 years old and who is getting people well.

I don't know anyone good in your area.

If you can't find anyone, there is a top notch lyme doctor in Washington, D.C. who will treat children of any age.

You only have to appear in person once every 6 months. She will do telephone appointments the other months. So, you should consider her.

She will have her first in-person appointment about 3 months from now and a telephone consult 2 months from now. At the consult, she can order the tests you need (if any) to help diagnose her.

Let me know if you want the name, prices, how she treats, her great credentials, etc. You would be in good hands with her.

Not many lyme specialists take children as young as 7.

Welcome to LymeNet! We will help you here all we can.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for PA, CT & OH.

The little girl (don't know if she is your daughter) needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

LLMDs are far and few between, unfortunately. She needs to go where they are. At least half of all Lyme patients go out-of-state for proper care.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/PennsylvaniaLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Here is a link for you with good information (you should also contact them for more):

This is a link from that website specifically about PANDAS/PANS:

Some other links for you with good information about Lyme and children:

Here is a link for a book titled, "When Your Child Has Lyme Disease: A Parent's Survival Guide" which also might be helpful:

http://www.lymeliteratepress.com/

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
