I'm looking for a LLMD on Long Island. I was treated for Babs from the ages or 13-21 on and off. The two doctors that treated me have retired and another moved out of state. I feel that now at 35, I'm starting to have symptoms again. Fatigue, insomnia, joint pain, depression, light headedness, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don't know anybody good there. Try contacting the support groups near you. See Support Groups on the left side of the page.
Contact those in other states also.
There is a really good lyme doctor in Connecticut, not far from Bridgeport. Let me know if you want the name. The wait to get in is 1 year, but if they have a cancellation, you can get in much quicker! This has happened for some people.

Hi Lo5182, I have a lead on an LLND in Great Neck, about 45 mins from Long Island. Personally I would choose an MD over an ND, and you would probably be better served by the ILADS-trained LLMD’s in NYC, but if you want the info I can pm it to you. I would also go with TF’s suggestion if you can travel!

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between, so you need to go where they are. I don't know of any on Long Island and at least half of all Lyme patients go out-of-state for care.
Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:
Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.
Also "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
