I am suspecting Lyme disease in my 11 year old. I am very anxious to get him to a GOOD doctor very soon.

Is there anyone here that knows of a good, trusted, Lyme literate doctor near Birmingham Alabama?

Thanks in advance for your time and for sharing any information that might help!

Tina

Welcome to Lyment tinamarie7

You need a Really Good Pediatric Lyme Disease Specialist for your son. Unfortunately you will have to travel, Alabama just isn't offering what is needed to treat your child. Read why getting the BEST LLMD is needed here ;

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/115161?#000001

Watch "Under Our Skin" a documentary about the struggles Lyme patients face while trying to get diagnosised and treated here ;

http://www.veoh.com/m/watch.php?v=v21055812yWtmpgB8

You can request a LLMD through Global Lyme Alliance here;

https://globallymealliance.org/education-awareness/find-medical-professional/

There is a message box where you can write that you are seeking a Pediatric LLMD.

Make sure you research each doctor by googling patient reviews and articles. So very important. You want to find out their successes and failures, then decide which LLMD would be best to treat your child.

Start getting your finances in order. Lyme can be expensive to treat, your initial appointment being the most expensive. Collect copies of all blood work, tests, medical providers seen, anything related to your child's health and place in a folder. Take this with you to LLMD visit. It could save you money from repeating duplicate procedures.

Sometimes there is a long waiting list for LLMD's so offer to be put on a cancellation list to maybe speed things up.

Start researching everything you can about Tick Borne Infections. You must become your own health care advocate for your son. Post any questions you may have on Lymenet and Lymenet members will respond compassionately and thoroughly. We wish your son a happy and healthy outcome.

I will sent you a private message.
