I'm 48 years old and have been sick on and off for almost 3 years now. Symptoms come and go and move from place to place. Sometimes the symptoms almost go away for awhile or are not as severe then comeback. At times the symptoms are almost debilitating.

I have the following symptoms but usually not all at the same time: muscle twitching and fatigue, headaches, severe dizziness, pressure in my head, joint pain, cramping, memory loss and "brain fog", stomach/bowel problems, hands turn color and are sensitive to cold, hypothyroidism, Flushing, insomnia. Before this I was perfectly healthy and never needed or went to a Dr. I ran, and rode a bike and lifted weights. Cutting and splitting wood, hunting and fishing are/were my hobbies.

The hypothyroidism is getting worse again. My endocrinologist had to increase my thyroid med again after being stable for about 6 months. She said it is changing too fast to be normal. My GP just did a Lyme titer test after I requested it and told him I'm an avid deer hunter, but I haven't heard the results (how long does it take?). I didn't even think of Lyme disease until after reading an article in a deer hunting magazine a month or so ago. I believe he thinks I'm exaggerating my condition and says he just doesn't know what's wrong. I appreciate his honesty. He did put me on doxicycline for 30 days, which I'm halfway thru. He admitted he has very little experience with Lyme but said 30 days of doxicycline should take care of it if I have it. ????

I've been feeling worse since starting the antibiotic. Especially the joint pain in my knees and muscle twitching/fatigue. Is that normal? I'm looking for a Dr. in Indiana that specializes in Lyme. I don't feel confident my Dr. knows enough to diagnose or treat me if that's what it is and I need relief from this. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. It's starting to negatively affect every aspect of my life. Please help.

Thanks, Scott F

welcome! check this out also!!

Please go to SUPPORT GROUPS, left-hand side column by state.
CALL the nearest group leader for advise.
Do NOT email; many are too sick to reply; thanks!

People seeking doctors in certain states might be able to
get help from their state online information and support group. Over 1200
people belong to these state groups. Many of the groups are small
but quite a few have 20 or more people on them.

To find your state group, go to
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Type your state name and lyme as one word, e.g. newyorklyme

For SC, SD, ND and WY, put a hyphen between the statename
and lyme, e.g. northdakota-lyme

The groups are moderated so you have to apply, and we don't
allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately.
